This will be the Prime Minister’s fifth visit to Karnataka this year. PM Modi will visit and inspect the airport. According to media reports, PM Modi will also inaugurate and lay the foundation stone of several projects in the district.
Explain that the new airport in Shivamogga has been constructed at a cost of about Rs 450 crore. Its passenger terminal building is in the shape of a lotus and can accommodate 300 passengers per hour. PM Modi will also lay the foundation stone of two railway projects, Shikaripura-Ranibennur New Railway Line and Kotagunguru Railway Coaching Depot, during his visit to Karnataka today.
Shivamogga-Shikaripura-Ranibennur railway line to be built at a cost of 990 crores
The Shivamogga-Shikaripura-Ranibennur new railway line will be built at a cost of Rs 990 crore and will provide better connectivity to the Malnad region with the Bengaluru-Mumbai mainline.
The Kotaganguru Railway Coaching Depot in Shivamogga city will be developed at a cost of over Rs 100 crore to help start new trains from Shivamogga and have low-maintenance facilities in Bengaluru and Mysuru.
PM Modi will also lay the foundation stone of many road projects
During his visit to Karnataka today, PM Modi will also lay the foundation stone for several road development projects worth over Rs 215 crore. Some of the development projects include construction of a new bypass road connecting Byndur-Ranebennur to Shikaripura town, widening of NH-169A from Megaravalli to Agumbe, and construction of a new bridge at Bharathipura in Tirthahalli taluk.
In addition, PM Modi will release the 13th installment of around Rs 16,000 crore under the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-Kisan) through Direct Benefit Transfer to over eight crore beneficiaries in Belagavi.
